Company history
IWM AG was founded in 1974 and is primarily active in the areas of materials and component testing, damage analysis and technical safety. Through targeted acquisitions – the 1990 takeover of the materials testing department of Oerlikon-Contraves AG, in 2000 the acquisition of destructive and non-destructive wire cable testing from the EMPA, and in 2002 the takeover of the materials testing department of Siemens Schweiz AG – IWM AG has continually expanded its range of services and sales volume. Today IWM AG is the leading privately operated testing institute for cableways on the Swiss market. It has been accredited by the Swiss Accreditation Service as a testing body (STS 282) as well as an inspection body (SIS 142).
Since 2001, IWM AG has been a subsidiary of the Swiss Association for Technical Inspections (SVTI, formerly SVDB). Its headquarters are located in Wallisellen. Its branch office IWM Suisse Romande is located in Monthey (Vaud). IWM AG employs a total of 12 staff in both locations.
In the areas of materials testing, IWM AG covers a broad range of services in the disciplines of destructive and non-destructive testing of all types. To assist in this goal, IWM AG has access to the corresponding infrastructure and personnel resources at both locations.
Know-How / Offering
IWM AG is the largest supplier of services in the area of technical safety of cableways as dictated by the Swiss Cableways Ordinance. Its range encompasses, among other things, testing services in connection with guaranteeing the mechanical safety of load-bearing components and technical consultation in accordance with the new Cableways Ordinance.
IWM AG is a private-sector organisation. As such, we can offer our services efficiently, at a reasonable price and around the clock. Our on-call staff are available 365 days a year.
